Beginner-friendly. 5-wk class blocks on Wednesdays at 8pm (followed
by social dancing) or Sundays at 7pm. These classes are intended to
get you moving even if you're brand new and teach you the basics of
WCS including some variations and technique. Students must
complete 3 or more blocks of Basics+.
IMPROVER (Level 1.5)
5-wk class blocks on Sundays at 9pm. These classes will give you the
skills needed to move up to Beyond Basics classes. This class includes
an evaluation before moving up. Students can also get access to
Beyond Basics by doing 2-4 hours of private lessons if the Sunday
time does not work.
BEYOND BASICS (Level 2)
5-wk class blocks on Wednesdays at 7pm. These classes will expand
your knowledge of dance technique and allow you to apply it to more
complicated moves and patterns. Students stay in Beyond Basics
perpetually.
TECHNIQUE CLASS (Level 2.5/All-levels)
4-wk drop-in friendly block on Sundays at 8pm. These classes will
improve your dancing by working on fundamental techniques. All level
students will benefit from these classes, and they are required before
moving into any higher level training program offered by Remix Swing.
SOCIAL DANCING
Wednesdays at 9pm, dance parties, events. Social dancing is the time for you to have fun and start to apply what you've learned in class!
WORKSHOPS
Workshops are an incredible way to improve your specific knowledge and skills on a topic critical to WCS. Remix Swing offers workshops, and there
are workshops offered in surrounding communities that we carpool to!
PRIVATE LESSONS
Private lessons help hone into your specific dancing. Approach your favourite instructors to ask for private lessons. Mikaela’s private lesson
information can be found here.
DANCE PARTIES
Remix Swing holds parties every second month, which include an Intro class so you can bring your friends and review your basics! There are also a
number of surrounding communities that offer WCS parties that we carpool to!
COMPETITIONS/EVENTS
WCS events include workshops by your favourite Champion-level dancers, competitions, and tons of social dancing! Generally they occur at an
event venue (like a hotel) and dancers carpool, share hotel rooms, go for meals, and socialize together. It is an incredible experience!
FAQs
1. What shoes do I need?
Anything you can move in, as long as they are clean on the bottom (indoor shoes). Sneakers, flats or flat dress shoes, or walking shoes all work well!
2. What clothes do I wear?
I wear jeans and a t-shirt, but it's really up to you. Something you can walk around in. I would recommend not to wear dresses/skirts in case we do
any fast turns.
3. Do I need to come with a partner?
No! WCS is a partner dance but we will be switching partners so you'll get a chance to dance with everyone.
4. Do I have to switch partners?
I highly recommend it because dancing with different types of people is how you learn best! However, if you are not comfortable switching that's
fine too. :)
5. But I have two left feet/can't dance/suck at dancing!
No such thing. ;) You just haven't found the right teacher/dance style.
6. What's your COVID policy?
See policies section in About Us.
