Inclusivity - Everyone is welcome at Remix Swing! Our classes and events are safe spaces for all attendees. This includes creating and nurturing a culture of respect in all our classes, events, and interactions with the community.
Community - At the core of West Coast Swing is the community of incredible people who dance, laugh, build friendships, train, and even travel to events together. We are also part of larger communities including Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, and even the Global West Coast Swing scene. At Remix Swing we support connecting and building these communities at all levels through social events and community engagement.
Safety - Physical, emotional, and social safety are so important to us and our participants. Remix Swing is committed to providing instruction and training that keeps our students safe on the dance floor. We connect with our participants and care about them. Your well-being comes first.
We pride ourselves on building a strong and inclusive dance community at Remix Swing. Our students and instructors support and encourage each other, creating a positive and uplifting atmosphere that welcomes new dancers. Our community is also the hub for various social activities outside of dance class, and many of students travel to nearby communities together to learn and social dance.
We are conveniently located in the heart of Uptown Waterloo, with easy access to public transportation and nearby free parking. Our studio is spacious and modern, with high ceilings and ample natural light. We have a fully air conditioned space, large mirrors, a community kitchen, bathrooms with a fully stocked change table, a private practice room, shoe and coat storage, and more.
Class passes and workshops will not be refunded except under extreme circumstances, but can be transferred to the next class block if necessary (must be requested before the block starts).
If you miss a class, you can make it up by attending another same type and level class within that week (note curriculums might be different).
We offer many classes that are drop-in friendly. Our curriculum classes that run in progressive blocks have specific drop-in rules: Drop-ins are only allowed consecutively and from the first class or second class. Otherwise, purchasing a full class block is required. Drop-in prices for curriculum classes are $25+HST. Passes are non-transferable and cannot be used by other dancers.
You will be asked to sign a Waiver and Media Release (photos and videos taken during the even may be used in promotional materials or posted on social media). If you have questions about the Waiver prior to purchasing your event pass, please contact us. You cannot participate in Remix Swing events without signing the waiver.
Masks and vaccinations are no longer required for public events. Please do your best to keep yourself and your community safe. This means if you are sick, please do not come to class, and if you have been exposed it is recommended that you wear a mask to protect the safety of our community and fellow dancers. If you are sick prior to an event please contact us for a credit to put towards another class. If you are sick at an event (sniffling/coughing) you will be asked to leave immediately with no refund.
